Job Overview

Position Summary

The role involves the safe and efficient operation of trucks to deliver products to designated locations. The types of vehicles operated may include box trucks, tandem axle straight trucks, and transport trucks, all while adhering to safety regulations and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a truck for a minimum of 40 hours weekly.
  • Receive and interpret delivery orders from dispatch.
  • Plan delivery routes based on priority instructions from dispatch.
  • Manage paperwork efficiently, ensuring all documentation is correctly filed.
  • Verify product details against the compartment log.
  • Inspect the arrangement of products on the truck prior to delivery.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Ensure customer documentation is signed and accurate.
  • Maintain accurate mileage logs and retain fuel receipts.
  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding any inquiries or issues.
  • Participate in driver meetings as required.
  • Comply with all DOT regulations, including hours of service and safety protocols.
  • Report any vehicle or trailer issues to Operations.
  • Assist with vehicle maintenance and repairs as directed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Supervisory Role

This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Valid Class A CDL.
  • Hazmat and Tanker endorsements.
  • Minimum of 100,000 miles of driving experience.
  • Familiarity with DOT regulations and CSA 2010 standards.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Essential Skills and Abilities

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Dependable and responsible work ethic.

Equipment and Technology

  • Truck.
  • Lift Gate.
  • Pump.
  • Hose Reel.
  • Cell phone for communication.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Ability to see and respond to traffic signals and patterns.
  • Listen for sounds indicating potential vehicle issues.
  • Conduct visual inspections of the vehicle.
  • Perform repetitive motions and manual tasks.
  • Occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Position requires prolonged periods of sitting while driving.
  • Must successfully pass a driver’s physical examination.
