Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist to join our team at the Hampton, VA Medical Center. As a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic radiography and CT procedures to achieve proper diagnosis and treatment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic radiography examinations of head, neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis, spine, and extremities.
  • Operate radiology equipment to determine technical factors and ensure proper exposure.
  • Set up the X-ray room and ensure sterile supplies, local anesthetics, contrast materials, and other required equipment are present.
  • Confer with radiologists to determine the requirements of non-standard exams.
  • Perform neuroangiography, including spine, head, and neck studies using computerized fluoroscopy and pressure injectors.
  • Perform CT peripheral and visceral angiography of the abdominal systems and extremities.
  • Prepare contrast materials used in CT and other exams.
  • Responsible for stocking and inventory of all CT-related materials.
  • Continually review new developments in the field of computerized tomography.
  • Perform reconstructions of CT when requested or as part of a standard procedure.
Requirements
  • Certification in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology, Radiography (ARRT) (R).
  • Advanced ARRT certification is required for assignments that include computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), or Mammography (M) duties performed independently.
  • Completion of a full-time training course of at least 24 months in duration in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certificate or an associate degree, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or from other accrediting agencies as recognized by the Department of Education (DOE).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three years of experience working independently as an ARRT (CT) Registered Technologist.
Working Conditions

This position requires heavy lifting, moderate carrying, pushing, reaching, and prolonged standing. The incumbent must be able to distinguish basic colors and have good dexterity.
