Position Overview:
The Surgical and ICU Advanced Practice Provider Supervisor is tasked with overseeing the operational and clinical performance of both the First Assistant and Intensive Care teams. This position collaborates closely with Surgeons and Intensivists to ensure adequate coverage and support across multiple campuses. The Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations and clinical activities of the First Assistant and ICU Advanced Practice Provider teams. Additionally, this role coordinates the clinical activities of Physician Assistant Surgical students.
Clinical Responsibilities:
The Supervisor may fulfill clinical duties across various surgical specialties. This role can be filled by either a Physician Assistant or a Nurse Practitioner, as specified below.
Qualifications:
- Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in New York State
- If a Physician Assistant, must have graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Physician Assistant studies
- If a Nurse Practitioner:
- Must have graduated from an accredited Master's Degree program in Nurse Practitioner studies
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school is required
- NYS Licensed Registered Nurse
- Certification as a Nurse Practitioner by NYS
- Infection Control Training certificate as mandated by New York State
- Board Certification by NCCPA is required
- Must meet credentialing requirements through the Medical Staff office
Experience:
- A minimum of three years of surgical assisting experience is required
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in high-pressure situations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Working Conditions:
- Must be prepared to respond to surgical on-call emergencies
