Fort Bend County is seeking a highly skilled Forensic Psychologist to join our team. As a key member of our Behavioral Health Services department, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive forensic evaluations and providing expert opinions to our courts.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct competency to stand trial evaluations and, with appropriate experience and training, may conduct sanity evaluations.
- Complete written reports within the required timeframe and provide court testimony relating to evaluation results as requested.
- Effectively interact with judges, attorneys, and other court staff in the collection of information and collaboration on assigned cases.
- Conduct psychological testing, including intellectual functioning evaluations as needed, and provide documentation of findings from assessment instruments.
- Assist with the clinical supervision of masters and doctoral level practicum students.
- May provide clinical mental health services as needed.
- Provide training to justice partners, the community, and other county departments as needed and within the scope of expertise.
- Comply with agency policies and procedures, accrediting/regulatory bodies, and documentation requirements.
- Perform related work and adapt to changing work requirements.
- Demonstrate ethical conduct in all clinical and professional activities.
- Communicate and work with consumers, visitors, and other staff in a manner that demonstrates sensitivity to cultural diversities.
- Participate in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
- Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Psychology. Licensed as a Psychologist or eligibility to be licensed as a psychologist consistent with the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council. Qualifications as an expert as indicated by Article 46B of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure.
- Competence in administration, scoring, and interpretation of a broad range of psychological tests (especially those intended for forensic use).
- Knowledge of diagnostic criteria, specific clinical features, and diagnostic nomenclature in diagnosing mental illness as well as intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Clear and concise written expression skills appropriate for expert opinions in criminal legal proceedings.
- Strong analytical skills in considering and synthesizing information, data, and evidence from multiple sources.
- Strong computer and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials.
- Ability to complete assignments with tight deadlines.
