Patient Care Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Technician to join our team at Northwestern Memorial Healthcare. As a Patient Care Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.
Key Responsibilities- Assist and support Professional Registered Nurses in all aspects of direct and indirect patient care activities.
- Perform various tasks to ensure a safe and clean environment, including maintaining temperature logs, defrosting and cleaning refrigerators, and restocking supplies.
- Collect and inventory patient belongings on admission, transfer, and discharge.
- Participate in staff meetings and contribute to quality improvement activities.
- Assist with pre-and post-operative care, position patients as ordered, and apply special equipment for safety.
- Respond to emergency situations, secure assistance, and initiate basic life support.
- Report observations and document appropriately.
- Promptly notify RN of any change in patient condition.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull equipment and supplies as needed.
This is a part-time position working 24 hours per week, with alternating weekends required. The Patient Care Technician will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, interacting with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
