POSITION SUMMARY

The Client Support Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering essential services to residents. Responsibilities encompass one-on-one counseling, group sessions, advocacy, referrals, and follow-up support, as well as assistance with home management and financial planning. Candidates must exhibit an understanding of the complexities surrounding homelessness. Furthermore, the Client Support Specialist will establish vital connections with community organizations to ensure residents receive appropriate housing placements, aftercare services, vocational training, and educational opportunities, as well as help families access public assistance and Medicaid benefits.

Salary Range: $42,000 - $47,000

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage a caseload of 25-30 families.
  • Conduct intake assessments to evaluate residents for program admission.
  • Engage residents in both individual and group counseling sessions under the guidance of a Social Work Supervisor.
  • Develop independent living plans biweekly in the designated reporting system.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of case plans and address individual client needs to enhance their ability to function independently.
  • Build and maintain housing referral resources, assisting residents in securing permanent housing in collaboration with housing specialists.
  • Support residents in accessing community resources, including aftercare services.
  • Evaluate residents' vocational and educational needs through interviews and assessments, and provide follow-up support as necessary.
  • Foster relationships with public assistance and Medicaid administrators to advocate for eligible residents.
  • Assist clients in creating savings plans when applicable.
  • Conduct regular inspections of residential units, particularly for families involved with child welfare.
  • Explore family reunification options when transitioning out of shelter.
  • Continuously assess the safety and well-being of clients.
  • Schedule residents' medical appointments.
  • Collaborate with residents to establish a contract outlining mutual goals and objectives.
  • Facilitate psychoeducational groups alongside direct service staff.
  • Coordinate on-site and off-site service delivery.
  • Participate in training sessions to enhance clinical skills.
  • Attend regular supervision and case conference meetings.
  • Act independently during facility coverage, particularly in crisis situations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Social Work Supervisor.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or a related field.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bilingual candidates are highly encouraged to apply.
  • Two years of counseling experience in a residential setting is preferred.
  • Three years of crisis counseling experience in a shelter for homeless individuals or families is preferred.
  • Experience in assessing vocational and educational needs of clients is essential.
  • Proficiency in facilitating supportive group sessions.
  • Demonstrated understanding of homelessness issues within marginalized communities.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and reporting systems.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills are required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Flexibility in scheduling is necessary.
