Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Academic Advisor to join our team at Collin College. As an Academic Advisor, you will play a critical role in supporting students in achieving their academic goals. Your primary responsibility will be to provide academic guidance and support to students, helping them navigate the college experience and make informed decisions about their academic and career paths.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement academic advising programs for students, including individual and group advising sessions, as well as new student orientation programs.
  • Advise students on academic planning, course selection, and transferability, as well as provide support with TSI testing, developmental education, and dual credit programs.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure students receive comprehensive support and guidance throughout their academic journey.
  • Conduct unofficial degree evaluations to help students understand their remaining course requirements and plan their academic path.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with students, faculty, and staff to promote a positive and supportive academic environment.
  • Stay up-to-date on college policies, procedures, and degree requirements to provide accurate and informed guidance to students.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution; Master's degree preferred.
  • One year of full-time experience in student development/affairs, or two years of part-time experience in a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive student information.
