Job Overview

As a key member of our finance team, the Property Accountant plays a vital role in delivering precise and timely monthly financial reports for a designated portfolio of properties. This position collaborates closely with various departments within FPI Management, Inc., as well as our esteemed clients, ensuring seamless communication and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Analysis: Conduct thorough reviews of the General Ledger to confirm account balances and verify that expenses are accurately categorized.
  • Accrual Management: Identify and record necessary accruals to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Reporting: Generate Excel reports as required and prepare preliminary financial statements for review, finalizing them upon approval.
  • Year-End Procedures: Assist in balancing year-end records and recording necessary audit entries.

Accounts Payable Duties

  • Review and input accounts payable invoices, ensuring accurate coding and expense allocation.
  • Produce weekly aged trial balances for outstanding invoices and manage check runs for approved payments.
  • Ensure checks are matched with the appropriate invoices and oversee their distribution.

Cash Management

  • Maintain accurate monthly cash logs, documenting deposits and weekly check runs.
  • Reconcile cash logs with bank statements to ensure accuracy.

Journal Entry Responsibilities

  • Record accrual basis journal entries for various expenses and ensure proper year-end closing entries are made.
  • Identify accounts affected by adjustments and record necessary entries.

Communication Skills

Effectively communicate with Portfolio Managers, Community Directors, and Owners regarding financial transactions. Collaborate with on-site staff to address inquiries related to deposits, accounts payable invoices, and check requests, ensuring timely responses.

Annual Audit Support

Assist in the annual audit process by preparing required reports and responding to auditor inquiries in a timely manner.

Additional Responsibilities

Perform any other functions as directed by the supervisor, including special project assistance. Ensure compliance with all training requirements and adhere to FPI Management, Inc. policies and procedures.
