The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled PIP Claims Adjuster to join our team at Root Insurance Company. As a PIP Claims Adjuster, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our customers receive fair and timely compensation for their personal injury claims.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver an industry-leading claim experience for all policyholders
  • Consistently make prompt and courteous contact with every claim customer
  • Obtain detailed accident descriptions from drivers, passengers, and witnesses, and document all parties and exposures
  • Utilize third-party vendors to evaluate claims and bills, and issue payments for PIP medical bills
  • Analyze billing notes, reported injuries, and facts of loss to appropriately medically manage the file, if applicable
  • Interpret policy language and apply rules as required by jurisdiction, and analyze what is owed for lost wages and household services
  • Maintain and update a diary/schedule for each claim in the adjuster's inventory
  • Respond to claim correspondence in a timely fashion with high quality
  • Provide input for continuous development of claims guidelines and best practices
  • Recommend potential product developments and process improvements
  • Interact and communicate effectively with customers, peers, vendors, and managers
  • Engage in learning opportunities to build knowledge of personal lines claims, court decisions impacting the claims function, current guidelines in the claims function, and policy changes/modifications
  • Set and maintain a loss reserve for every claim in the adjuster's pending
Requirements:
  • Florida PIP demand and/or litigation experience strongly preferred
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Successful experience handling personal injury auto insurance claims across multiple states, with direct responsibility for coverage decisions, injury analysis, issuing payments, taking recorded statements, responding to correspondence, requesting authority from supervisors, and medically managing injury claims
  • Ability to obtain additional insurance adjuster licenses within 3 months
  • PIP demand and/or litigation experience preferred
  • Demonstrated high-quality claim handling balanced with strong productivity
  • Strong technical understanding of liability and casualty principles
  • Aptitude to quickly learn and apply new concepts
  • Coachable and committed to professional growth
  • Experience managing first-party auto claims through closure
  • Viewed as a resource within the team and functional area
  • High sense of professionalism while remaining empathetic
  • Familiarity with claims best practices required
  • Curious in nature
  • Great attention to detail
  • Ability to approach problems with an open mind
