About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Fiber Splicer to join our team at Connecta-Tech. As a Fiber Splicer, you will be responsible for installing new cable lines, both underground and on utility poles, and performing maintenance on existing cables.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize Fusion Splicer to splice Loose Tube & Ribbon fiber cable.
  • Prep/Splice single-mode (SM) and multi-mode (MM) optical fiber cables.
  • Troubleshoot fiber utilizing an OTDR.
  • Communicate effectively with tech ops managers to address problems and coordinate work.
  • Maintain equipment and vehicle to a high standard.
  • Work indoors and outdoors as needed.
  • Be able to iterate to project/construction managers detailed accounts of field activity.
Requirements
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively within all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and make decisions while working under pressure.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office software, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications systems, public safety, and mechanical equipment.
