Mental Health Therapy Aide Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Therapy Aide to join our team at StateJobsNY. As a Mental Health Therapy Aide, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with mental illness and developmental disabilities in achieving their personal goals and living successfully in the community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide behavior therapy to children and individuals with developmental disabilities under the guidance of licensed clinicians.
  • Support and instruct individuals in developing the necessary skills to attain personal goals, live, be educated, work, and socialize successfully in the community.
  • Work in mental health facilities and medical centers, performing a variety of tasks related to the care, nurturing, treatment, education, socialization, habilitation, recovery, healing, and support of individuals with mental illness and developmental disabilities.
Requirements:
  • Graduated from high school or have earned a high school equivalency diploma (such as a GED).
  • Preferred Qualifications: One (1) year of full-time direct patient care experience working in a mental health setting.
Work Environment:

This is a full-time position located in the Child and Adol IP Psych Department. The schedule is based on a 40-hour work week, with evening shifts and every other weekend, as well as holidays.
