Job Summary

As a Wireless SoC Firmware Engineer at Apple, you will be responsible for crafting and implementing embedded firmware for SoC bring up and wireless connectivity enablement. You will work closely with the Software Engineering teams ensuring the quality of their firmware for manufacturability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement embedded firmware for SoC bring up and wireless connectivity enablement.
  • Work closely with Software Engineering teams to ensure the quality of their firmware for manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with Radio, MAC, and Systems engineering teams to architect, define and implement innovative algorithms, calibrations, and protocols.
  • Support pre-silicon validation efforts, including simulation, emulation, and FPGA prototyping.
  • Support post-silicon bringup, validation, performance characterization, system integration and debug.
  • Develop SoC test and calibration capabilities for chip, module, and product factories.
Requirements
  • BS required.
  • Strong background in embedded FW development using C and assembly languages, familiarity with ARM CPUs and its internals.
  • Experience with low-level hardware interfaces, register and interrupt programming, bare-metal software development.
  • Solid understanding of basic embedded concepts such as RTOS, concurrency, multi-processor systems.
  • Experience in developing low-level drivers for peripherals, performing HW bring-up.
  • Knowledgeable of wireless communication protocols, understanding of MAC/PHY/Radio layers is desirable.
  • Knowledgeable of industry standards for wireless communications, such as Bluetooth, WLAN, Zigbee, UWB is a plus.
  • Comfortable with at least one of the scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Tcl.
  • Excellent communication skills - both written and oral.
