Job Title: Embedded Firmware Engineer for Humanoid Robotics

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Firmware Engineer to join our team at 1X Technologies AS. As a key member of our robotics team, you will be responsible for developing the next generation Battery Management System (BMS) for our humanoid robot NEO.

About the Role

As an Embedded Firmware Engineer, you will be working closely with our hardware and software teams to design, develop, and test the BMS system. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Developing real-time control algorithms, safety mechanisms, and communication protocols for efficient battery monitoring and control.
  • Implementing software for battery state estimation, including State of Charge (SoC), State of Health (SoH), and State of Power (SoP).
  • Collaborating with the battery team on battery cell evaluation and testing.
  • Driving features in the higher level robot software safety layer.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in embedded software development with a focus on Battery Management Systems and power electronics.
  • Proficiency in embedded C/C++ programming.
  • Strong understanding of battery technologies (Li-ion, Li-Polymer, etc.) and battery management principles.
  • Experience with communication protocols like EtherCAT, CAN, LIN, SPI, I2C, and/or Modbus.
