Ambulatory Clinic Healthcare Associate

Job Summary:

The Ambulatory Clinic Healthcare Associate plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient flow of patients through the healthcare setting. This individual is responsible for facilitating examination and treatment of patients in a culturally sensitive manner, providing exceptional customer service, and contributing to patient care by preparing patients for visits, performing limited procedures, scheduling diagnostic tests or consults, maintaining patient records, organizing clinic/exam rooms, and maintaining supply/equipment inventory.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Schedule radiology tests, obtain films and reports, and prepare laboratory specimens according to policy.
  • Assist physicians and/or nurses with special procedures and examinations as defined on competency checklist.
  • Collaborate with members of the healthcare team in coordinating and implementing plans for patient care, and may record elements of the patient history for clinical staff review.
  • Ensure data collected for completed procedures is recorded on appropriate forms and in medical records.
  • Maintain medical records, ensure all required documentation is available in the medical record, distribute reports and correspondence, file, photocopy, and process forms related to medical charts.
  • Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of examination rooms, stock assigned areas, and ensure par levels of supplies are maintained, check and complete required logs and equipment such as refrigerator logs, eyewash logs, emergency/crash carts, suction, and other required checks.
  • Perform clerical duties such as greeting patients, registration, scheduling, pre-certification of tests, procedures, and medications, processing insurance forms, preparing financial records, answering phones, and entering ambulatory care charges.
  • Perform simple procedures as directed by the nurse or physician and as defined on the competency checklist.
  • Perform vital signs, height, weight, and screening procedures and document in medical record.
Requirements:
  • High School Graduate
  • Enrolled in an accredited school of nursing having completed OR
  • Bachelors Degree in a Healthcare or Science related field OR
  • 3 years of inpatient/rehab/LTC experience under the direction of a RN
