Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough file reviews and provide guidance on the proper handling of cases.
  • Formulate legal strategies by determining the best course of action for each case.
  • Draft and prepare legal documents, including answers, demands for discovery, and motions to dismiss.
  • Prepare letters and memoranda for insurance takeovers and other legal matters.
  • Investigate and assist in the preparation for trial of less serious claims.
  • Secure evidence by interviewing witnesses, officers, and other parties involved.
  • Assist attorneys in preparing and processing subpoenas, motions, and other legal documents.
  • Obtain, collect, and review records and data for attorneys.
  • Perform legal research and database searches.
  • Submit and file documents with various courts and City agencies.
  • Perform routine administrative duties, including photocopying, filing, and data entry.
Requirements
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Two years of full-time satisfactory experience in the performance of paralegal services, acquired in the United States.
  • Paralegal Certification obtained in the United States from an accredited program or a program approved by the American Bar Association.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Skills
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and either one year of full-time satisfactory experience in the performance of paralegal services or Paralegal Certification.
  • An associate degree or completion of 60 credits from an accredited college and three years of full-time satisfactory experience in the performance of paralegal services.
  • A four-year high school diploma or its equivalent and five years of full-time satisfactory experience in the performance of paralegal services.
