Job Summary

Windwalker Group is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Military Mental Health Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in supporting military personnel by enhancing access to Psychological Health (PH) and Substance Abuse counseling resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Mental Health Counseling: Focus on substance use/misuse/abuse and suicidal ideations.
  • Support Crisis Phone: Offer support through calls and texts for Soldiers and their family members.
  • Conduct Mental Status Exams: Evaluate mental health and provide recommendations.
  • Attend Staff Meetings: Stay informed and contribute to a collaborative work environment.
  • Navigate Military Health Systems: Support programs and legal systems to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Facilitate Behavioral Health Briefs: Provide training for units of varying sizes.
  • Advise Unit Leadership: Provide guidance on situations involving Soldiers' mental health and fitness for duty.
  • Collaborate with Community-Based Counselors: Navigate military requirements related to mental health issues.
  • Provide Group Therapy Sessions: Support Soldiers and Family Members after critical incidents.
  • Assist with Community-Based Counselor Referrals: Expedite the process for Soldiers and Family Members.
Requirements
  • Masters Degree in Counseling, Psychology, or Related Field
  • Vermont State Licensure as a Mental Health Counselor or Substance Abuse Counselor
  • Strong Knowledge of Substance Abuse Treatment Modalities
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills
  • In-Depth Knowledge of Evidence-Based Practices Related to Suicidal Ideations
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience Working with Military Personnel
  • Familiarity with Military Deployment Requirements and Mental Health Regulations
  • Training in Crisis Intervention and Trauma-Focused Therapy
