Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Service Representative to join our team at Carle Health. As a Business Service Representative, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth registration process for our patients, while also providing exceptional customer service and support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately complete registration and admitting forms, obtaining signatures from patients and policyholders as needed.
  • Communicate detailed information clearly and concisely, actively listening to patients and addressing their concerns in a timely manner.
  • Interpret insurance coverage and benefits to patients, identifying potential financial hardship and working with patients to resolve issues.
  • Perform chart management duties, including ordering, sending, and receiving charts, as well as creating new clinic charts and medical record numbers for new patients.
  • Verify patient demographics, insurance, and co-pays, as well as primary physicians, to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Process co-payments and maintain cash drawers according to procedures, striving for a 5% or less error rate.
  • Register all patients at each visit, utilizing established policies for the capture of complete and up-to-date patient and insurance information.
  • Review, analyze, and communicate registration errors to HRC management for quality improvement.
  • Scan all required patient information into software systems, ensuring information is retrievable and accessible by hospital staff.
  • Understand, review, and explain Patient Rights and Responsibilities, Notice of Privacy, and other pertinent admitting information to patients and/or family members.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, handling patient encounters and issues with professionalism and composure.
Requirements
  • Experience in Business Services or Financial Services, with customer service and handling difficult situations.
  • Keyboarding ability and ability to prioritize and multi-task for long periods of time.
  • Insurance knowledge and basic understanding, with ability to interpret and apply hospital policies.
