Job Description:
As an Inventory Management Specialist, you will work autonomously to achieve operational targets within the specified job area, impacting the overall achievement of the department. Your responsibilities will include performing physical or administrative tasks supporting the shipping, receiving, storing, and distribution of materials, parts, supplies, and equipment, rejecting unsatisfactory items when necessary. You will determine the most economical and efficient common or contract carrier for shipments, considering factors such as the nature of the items being shipped, method of handling, size, urgency, and cost. You will also calculate and record storage, redelivery, and other applicable charges. Additionally, you may reroute urgent shipments or arrange for special delivery at the destination. You will prepare and maintain records of products shipped and track shipments. You will receive incoming materials, unpack, and check goods received against purchase orders or invoices, verifying quantity, weight, and conformance of materials to stated identifications. You will maintain records of received goods, process freight bills, packing sheets, and other documents. You will stock and distribute materials in inventory and on manufacturing lines. You may operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, tow motors, forklifts, etc., upon receipt of internal certification. You will have knowledge of material handling procedures and Environmental Health and Safety requirements. You may perform wood shop functions such as operating power saws and nail guns in building skids and crates. You will communicate with contacts within the department on matters involving obtaining or providing information requiring explanation or interpretation to understand and reach agreement. You will follow established processes to complete tasks, demonstrating good verbal and written skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and a detailed-oriented approach. You must be able to lift and carry 32 lbs. and comply with all safety requirements. You must have knowledge of basic Math (add, subtract, multiply, and divide) and be able to see with or without corrective lenses. You will require working overtime as needed. Experience with shop floor control and continuous improvement exposure is preferred. You must have experience with Shipping: crating, Bill of Ladings, packaging materials to be shipped, computer skills, and forklift experience. You must have experience in Inventory Control: Cycle Counts, pulling job orders, stocking materials. You must have forklift experience to load and unload trucks, and experience in receiving materials, understanding the fundamentals of checking materials, verifying counts, and able to do inventory transactions. You must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance.
Qualifications:
Requires fully proficient job knowledge/skills typically obtained through a combination of education and experience. High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of six (6) years of prior inventory/shipping experience. 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of two (2) years of prior inventory/shipping experience.
