Swim Instructor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Swim Instructor to join our team at Hopedale Medical Complex. As a Swim Instructor, you will be responsible for providing swim lessons to children of all levels and abilities, teaching them the basic strokes of freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke, and elementary backstroke.
Responsibilities- Deliver high-quality swim lessons to participants of all ages and ability levels, using developmentally appropriate and effective techniques.
- Assess and evaluate students participating in swim lessons, promoting swimmer safety and providing constructive feedback.
- Collaborate with other aquatics staff to develop optimal strategies for teaching and behavior management.
- Lead group and private swimming lessons, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.
- Recommend, implement, and communicate policies and procedures related to aquatics within the Wellness Center, ensuring compliance with Hopedale Medical Complex, accreditation, and regulatory requirements.
- Administer and ensure adherence to department, Medical Complex, and third-party safety standards, recommending solutions and improvements for safety problems.
- Maintain and improve knowledge of developments in the field by reading relevant articles and watching videos, sharing information with peers as appropriate.
- Background in swimming or lifeguarding, with valid CPR/AED certification.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or current enrollment in secondary school.
- Ability to provide safe instruction to members, communicate effectively with staff, members, and HMC personnel.
- Knowledge of swimming techniques, including front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, butterfly, sidestroke, elementary backstroke, individual medley, medley relay, legal turns, and use of a pace clock for training purposes.
- Analytical skills to break complex movements into parts and organize into a logical instructional sequence.
- Creativity to improvise and innovate new ways of explaining, demonstrating, and coaching to improve quality of teaching and learning.
- General Wellness Center environment with occasional exposure to infectious material, contagious disease, bodily excretions, and hazardous material.
- Ability to walk, stand, kneel, and swim for 100% of work time, and lift & carry up to fifty pounds for 10% throughout the workday.
$25 hourly wage.
