Job Overview

The City of Tomball is actively looking for a Wastewater Treatment Facility Operator. This position entails executing a range of maintenance duties at the City's Wastewater Treatment Facilities and Lift Stations. As an entry-level role within the Wastewater Maintenance Technical worker series, you will engage in fundamental plant upkeep and maintenance while acquiring advanced operational skills.

Primary Duties:

  • Carry out essential maintenance activities at the municipal wastewater treatment facility and Lift Stations.
  • Gain proficiency in operating machinery utilized in wastewater treatment processes.
  • Manage chemical application to meet wastewater treatment standards.
  • Perform quality control assessments and modify equipment as necessary.
  • Analyze data readings to ensure the effective functioning of treatment apparatus.
  • Monitor various metrics to sustain optimal plant operating conditions.
  • Detect and resolve equipment malfunctions.
  • Conduct backwashing of filters and routine maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain precise records and documentation of tasks completed.
  • Execute field chemical analyses for compliance with regulations.
  • Ensure a clean and safe working environment.
  • Operate necessary machinery and tools.
  • Order supplies and maintain equipment as required.
  • Conduct weekend facility inspections and respond to after-hours emergencies.
  • Complete all mandated training and certification programs.
  • Comply with all safety protocols.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent educational background.
  • Two years of experience in wastewater operations preferred.
  • Possession of relevant licenses in wastewater treatment is required.
  • Valid Driver's License is mandatory.

Compensation:

  • Starting Salary Range: $41,808 - $43,909
  • Overall Salary Range: $41,808 - $62,712
