Job Title: Inspector General

Join the Collier County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller team as an Inspector General, a highly visible member of the executive team responsible for ensuring the efficient, effective, and proper use of resources entrusted to the county government.

Job Summary

The Inspector General will lead the Office of Inspector General (OIG) in providing independent, objective auditing and investigative services to add value, improve operations, and preserve public trust. The successful candidate will develop a deep understanding of the inner workings of Collier County and the Clerk's Office, leveraging their expertise to make informed decisions and advise the Clerk on successes, challenges, and progress.

Key Responsibilities
  • Formulate a comprehensive strategic plan that aligns with the Clerk's short- and long-term goals and objectives.
  • Lead with vision, inspiring and motivating all levels of the organization, while shaping the organizational culture that fosters collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
  • Problem-solve and make sound decisions by analyzing challenges, devising effective solutions, and steering the organization through obstacles to accomplish goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the professional staff in conducting audits, investigations, inspections, reviews, and consulting projects in accordance with professional and departmental standards.
  • Develop and maintain the risk universe, with input from all sections of the OIG and outside stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business, finance, accounting, public administration, or management, or a related field, and six years of increasingly responsible professional financial compliance and/or investigative auditing experience.
  • A master's degree and/or experience as an Inspector General, Certified Public Accountant, Internal Auditor, or a person with progressive supervisory and management experience in an investigative public agency office is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation.
  • Certified Inspector General (CIG) or must obtain designation within two years.
  • Preference may be given to candidates possessing highly desirable qualifications, including Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation experience, Certified Inspector General Auditor (GIGA), Certified Inspector General Investigator (CIGI), and Certified Inspector General Investigator/Evaluator (CIGE).
