ROLE AND PURPOSE
- Oversee, train, and manage the culinary services operation on campus, ensuring adherence to regulations and departmental objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Current Food Manager Certificate recognized by the Texas Department of State Health Services
Experience:
- Previous experience in supervising K-12 culinary services
- Preferred two years of supervisory experience in a similar role
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Proficient in English for effective communication and instructions
- Skilled in time management and coordination
- Computer literate
- Financially knowledgeable with basic mathematical skills
- Effective communicator with various stakeholders
- Informed about kitchen operations, equipment, and food safety protocols
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT
- Provide safety training for staff members
- Conduct annual HACCP training sessions
- Lead orientation and policy/procedure training for new employees
SCHOOL/ORGANIZATION CLIMATE
- Ensure positive interactions with students in accordance with guidelines
SCHOOL/ORGANIZATIONAL IMPROVEMENT
- Recommend and participate in initiatives for service enhancement
ADMINISTRATION AND FISCAL/FACILITIES MANAGEMENT
- Manage procurement of food and supplies
- Ensure compliance with health department regulations
- Prepare and review staff work schedules
- Present quality food in an appealing manner
- Maintain accurate records and reports
- Implement food safety programs
- Apply safety rules and regulations
SCHOOL/COMMUNITY RELATIONS
- Engage in campus activities to promote student and parent involvement
- Handle cash deposits with accuracy
PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT
- Attend meetings and development sessions for continuous improvement
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage food preparation, service, and storage operations
- Operate equipment and train staff members
- Address conflicts and coach personnel
- Conduct evaluations of job performance
