Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Alarm Installer to join our team at Johnson Controls International. As a Fire Alarm Installer, you will be responsible for installing, programming, and troubleshooting fire alarm systems, as well as other related building system products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and program fire alarm systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Respond to customer service calls in a timely and efficient manner, troubleshooting and repairing fire alarm systems as needed.
  • Participate in after-hours service programs, providing emergency support to customers.
  • Communicate with central dispatch on current work order status and receive updates on outstanding customer issues.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems programs, schematics, and operational/product manuals.
  • Supervise and inspect the installation of equipment to meet customer and contract specifications.
  • Complete necessary certification courses on internal and external products used.
  • Submit all required task-related, activity, productivity, and other documentation in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to and follow safety guidelines and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • State of Oregon LEA (Electrical – Limited Energy Technician, Class A) license.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in low voltage electrical systems, including fire/life safety systems.
  • Valid driver's license and an excellent driving record.
  • Ability to pass thorough background check and drug test.
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, and operational/product manuals.
  • Experience using hand tools, test equipment, multi-meter usage, digital analyzer, and commissioning devices.
  • Ability to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions, such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
  • Willing and able to work flexible hours, including weekends, to meet customer requirements, as well as some overnight travel if needed.
  • Demonstratable high level of customer service.
  • Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and ability to learn quickly.
  • Basic understanding of network concepts and architectures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in electronics, network, computer science, or a related field.
  • State of Washington Limited Energy System (EL06) license.
  • NICET Level II certification or ability to obtain in first year.
  • VESDA certification.
  • Extended knowledge of DOS and Windows.
