Job Title: Coaxial Network Specialist

At FiOptix Inc, we are seeking a highly skilled Coaxial Network Specialist to join our team. As a Coaxial Network Specialist, you will be responsible for establishing communication systems by splicing and troubleshooting existing network infrastructure, placing or rebalancing active equipment and testing, and documenting coax system from head end to tap.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare Installation diagrams for various projects
  • Identify network components on a network print
  • Place and install coaxial cable per the applicable specifications and quality and safety standards
  • Plan network splicing by studying customer work order requests and using customer playbooks, manuals, and technical specifications
  • Troubleshoot and remediate coaxial network issues such as system noise and ingress, and low or high signal level
  • Rough balance and troubleshoot coaxial cable plant
  • Install passive/active devices, pedestals, vaults or coax splice cases
  • Splice active and passive CATV equipment
  • Understand network powering requirements
  • Create bill of materials based on prints
  • Create network installation diagrams
  • Operate aerial lift and other related equipment
  • Organize materials and basic hand tools necessary to complete project requirements
  • Complete all required Company documentation
  • Safely operate and maintain Company and customer issued tools, equipment, and vehicles
  • Resolve customer issues accurately and timely; escalate matters of significance to local management
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • High school diploma, general education degree (G.E.D.), or related trade school education
  • Three years of coax, aerial, and fiber construction experience
  • Three years of pole climbing experience
  • Two to three years of telecommunication construction and cable experience preferred
  • Ability to operate a bucket truck
  • Commercial driver's license (CDL) preferred
  • Knowledge of highway traffic control standards
Technical Skills:
  • Computer and Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Ability to use hand tools
  • Ability to pole frame and place strands
  • Knowledge of G.O. 95 and similar state aerial guidelines
  • Understanding of coax fiber design prints
  • Ability to read blueprints, CATV design maps, and basic electronic designs
  • Must have or obtain and maintain DOT certification
Soft Skills:
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and carry out instructions
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines
  • Ability to motivate, lead, teach, and train on proper work and safety procedures
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a driving record that meets Company requirements
  • Must be in good physical condition with the ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 75 lbs.; includes body weight, equipment, tools and boxes
  • Ability to work in various settings with moderate to loud noise levels
  • Ability to climb and work at elevations
  • Ability to pull rope/cables and dig with shovel
  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time on varied surfaces
  • May be required to work long and unpredictable hours
