Benefits Administrator

Location: Southern California (REMOTE)

Blackstone Consulting, Inc. is looking for a Benefits Administrator to support their Healthcare Security Client in Southern California.

Position Overview:

The Benefits Administrator is accountable for overseeing and orchestrating the daily functions of various group benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, and retirement plans. This role emphasizes delivering exceptional customer service while crafting high-quality benefits solutions. The administrator will consistently explore innovative benefits options, enhance current offerings, and manage the administration of benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate employee benefits plans and providers to determine optimal value.
  • Design, propose, and execute new benefits initiatives while assessing potential plan structures and cost adjustments.
  • Negotiate with service providers and administrators to secure advantageous plans and pricing.
  • Act as the primary liaison for plan vendors and third-party administrators.
  • Facilitate the transfer of information to external partners for services, premiums, and plan management.
  • Assess and refine internal processes to minimize expenses and enhance efficiency.
  • Document and uphold administrative protocols for designated benefits processes.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant government regulations and maintain timely and accurate reporting.
  • Oversee daily benefits administration, including enrollments, terminations, changes, and claims processing.
  • Manage the upkeep of employee benefits records and maintain the group benefits database.
  • Compile employee data and supervise monthly billing and payment processing for administrative fees.
  • Review health and dental claims monthly and conduct quarterly evaluations.
  • Audit the performance and accuracy of benefits staff functions.
  • Analyze existing benefits, assessing usage, coverage, effectiveness, and competitive trends.
  • Conduct plan audits and prepare data for actuarial evaluations.
  • Review cost projections and statistical analyses related to benefits modifications.
  • Survey industry trends and complete benefits surveys to inform future program designs.
  • Monitor administrative costs and propose cost-saving strategies.
  • Provide customer service support to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Create communication materials to improve understanding of the benefits package.
  • Design and distribute orientation materials for benefits, open enrollment, and plan summaries.
  • Offer training and support to benefits associates and field staff.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with HRIS and benefits databases.
  • Strong project management and leadership capabilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Excellent planning and prioritization skills, capable of managing multiple complex projects under tight deadlines.
  • Robust analytical skills with comprehensive knowledge of plan designs.
  • Understanding of benefits contract language and relevant regulations.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field, with three to five years of experience in benefits administration.
  • Preferred certifications include SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP and CEBS.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old and possess an Associate's Degree.
  • Must have a reliable means of communication.
  • Must have the legal right to work in the United States.
  • Must possess a valid government-issued driver's license or state ID.
  • Preferred: active state-issued guard card.
  • Must successfully complete the pre-employment screening process.
