About the Job

The Oregon Department of Corrections is seeking a Correctional Officer to join our team at the Oregon State Correctional Institution in Salem. As a Correctional Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining order and ensuring the safety and security of adults in custody.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce rules and regulations to maintain a safe and secure environment
  • Provide care and supervision to adults in custody
  • Monitor and report on safety, sanitary, and fire hazards
  • Set limits and provide good role model examples to facilitate positive change in the lives of adults in custody
Requirements
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED
  • Be 21 years of age or older
  • United States citizen
  • Meet DPSST Physical Standards
  • Possess reading comprehension, report writing, and retention abilities
  • Satisfactorily complete an ODOC background investigation

About the Department

The Oregon Department of Corrections is responsible for over 12,000 adults in custody in 12 state prisons throughout Oregon. Our mission is to promote public safety by holding offenders accountable for their actions and reducing the risk of future criminal behavior.

How to Apply

To apply for this position, please submit your application through Workday. You will need to pass the Correctional Officer NTN REACT test with a score of 70 percent or higher in all areas. Once your application is submitted, you will be contacted for an Agency Interview. If selected, you will be required to complete a background investigation and pass a pre-employment medical exam and psychological evaluation.
