Job Title: Correctional Officer

About the Role:

We are seeking highly motivated and dedicated individuals to join our team as Correctional Officers at the Oregon Department of Corrections. As a Correctional Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety and security of our institutions, while also providing support and guidance to adults in custody.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enforce rules and regulations within the institution
  • Provide care and support to adults in custody
  • Monitor activities and supervise work assignments
  • Conduct cell checks and searches for contraband
  • Settle disputes and enforce discipline
  • Observe, inspect, and report on safety, sanitary, and fire hazards

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 21 years of age or older
  • United States citizen
  • Pass NTN test with a minimum score of 70 percent in all areas
  • Good employee work history
  • History of law-abiding behavior
  • Pass psychological evaluation and risk assessment
  • No evidence of substance abuse
  • Proficient using computers
  • Valid driver's license

Selection Process:

The selection process for Correctional Officer positions involves several steps, including:

  1. Passing the NTN test with a score of 70 percent or higher in all areas
  2. Submitting an online application through Workday
  3. DOC will review and process applications
  4. Criminal history check and background investigation
  5. Preliminary Assessment Interview
  6. Background investigation and medical exam
  7. Conditional offer and fingerprinting
