Position Overview

SAIC is in search of a dedicated Cybersecurity Assessment Specialist. The ideal candidate will contribute to the Cybersecurity Integrity Center (CIC) within the Department of State Bureau of Information Resource Management (IRM). This role involves responsibilities in a dynamic environment, focusing on cybersecurity monitoring, threat evaluation, incident management, and infrastructure enhancement.

Work Environment: This position requires onsite presence for a minimum of three days per week in a continuous operational setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive security evaluations and assessments on high-value assets, utilizing methodologies established by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).
  • Execute offensive security operations to simulate adversarial tactics, assessing the effectiveness of preventive, detection, and response measures across the organization's global technology framework.
  • Identify and address cybersecurity vulnerabilities within the State Department's extensive IT infrastructure.
  • Implement organizational and procedural changes to enhance cybersecurity practices.
  • Analyze system performance, conduct risk assessments, and evaluate relevant performance metrics.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Deliver targeted penetration testing and assessment services on systems as directed by leadership.
  • Identify and rectify security vulnerabilities associated with deployment and testing protocols.
  • Enhance processes and procedures to expedite the remediation of vulnerabilities arising from cybersecurity threats.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on cybersecurity technology implementations tailored to operational requirements.
  • Perform technical assessments of proposed vulnerability mitigation strategies and provide recommendations based on potential impacts.
  • Formulate strategies for the integration of cyber defense technologies within the CIC.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of threats and vulnerabilities, identifying deviations from acceptable configurations and assessing risk levels.
  • Create network maps that visually represent the organization’s physical and digital infrastructure.
  • Support the operation and maintenance of existing cybersecurity tools and technologies.
  • Diagnose and prioritize anomalies within the cyber defense infrastructure.
  • Conduct cybersecurity evaluations of developed applications and systems.
  • Direct the resolution of technical challenges encountered during the testing and implementation of new systems.
  • Document security issues and impacts identified through offensive operations clearly and concisely for stakeholder reporting.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations to stakeholders responsible for addressing security gaps.
  • Independently manage complex issues with minimal oversight, escalating only the most intricate matters to appropriate personnel.

Qualifications

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of five years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree with at least three years of experience.
  • A degree in Cybersecurity or a related discipline is essential.
  • 4-6+ years of experience in penetration testing is required.
  • Experience in web application penetration testing, source code vulnerability analysis, and strong problem-solving skills is necessary.
  • All candidates must achieve DHS/CISA AES qualification within 90 days of onboarding.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Active Top Secret Clearance is required.
