Position Overview

SAIC is in search of a dedicated Cybersecurity Assessment Specialist. The ideal candidate will contribute to the Cybersecurity Integrity Center (CIC) within the Department of State Bureau of Information Resource Management (IRM). This role involves supporting cybersecurity monitoring, threat evaluation, incident management, and infrastructure improvement across the State Department's IT framework.

Work Environment: This position requires onsite presence for a minimum of three days per week in a continuous operation setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct advanced offensive security evaluations in alignment with established adversary tactics and contribute to the formulation of strategies to mitigate identified risks.
  • Utilize technical and managerial expertise to identify and address cybersecurity vulnerabilities within the global IT infrastructure.
  • Implement organizational and procedural enhancements.
  • Analyze system performance, conduct risk assessments, and review performance indicators.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Deliver targeted penetration testing and evaluation services on systems as designated by leadership.
  • Identify and rectify security weaknesses associated with deployment and testing methodologies.
  • Enhance and streamline processes to swiftly address vulnerabilities arising from cybersecurity threats.
  • Collaborate with internal and external cybersecurity stakeholders on technology implementations tailored to operational requirements.
  • Perform technical assessments of proposed vulnerability mitigation strategies and provide recommendations based on their potential impact.
  • Formulate strategies for cybersecurity defense technologies, ensuring their integration and alignment for ongoing operations.
  • Conduct threat and vulnerability assessments; identify deviations from acceptable configurations and policies; evaluate risk levels; and propose suitable mitigation strategies.
  • Map network infrastructure, providing a visual representation of the organization’s physical and digital assets.
  • Support the operation and maintenance of existing cybersecurity tools and technologies.
  • Diagnose and prioritize anomalies within the cybersecurity defense infrastructure.
  • Execute cybersecurity evaluations of developed applications and systems.
  • Identify and guide the resolution of technical challenges encountered during the testing and implementation of new systems.
  • Document security issues and their implications identified through offensive operations clearly and concisely for stakeholder reporting.
  • Offer guidance and recommendations to stakeholders responsible for addressing security gaps and validating remediation efforts.
  • Independently manage complex issues with minimal oversight, escalating only the most intricate matters to appropriate personnel.

Qualifications

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of five years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree with at least three years of experience.
  • A degree in Cybersecurity or a related discipline is essential.
  • 4-6+ years of experience in penetration testing is required.
  • Experience in web application penetration testing, source code vulnerability analysis, and strong problem-solving skills is necessary.
  • All candidates must achieve DHS/CISA AES qualification within 90 days of onboarding.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Active Top Secret Clearance is required.
