Job Title: Environmental Protection Specialist

Chenega Enterprise Systems & Solutions, LLC is seeking an Environmental Protection Specialist to join our team in Washington, DC. As a key member of our team, you will support the Department of Transportation (DOT) Infrastructure Program by providing authoritative advice and analysis on climate change affecting all aspects of transportation.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop, coordinate, and evaluate climate policy affecting all aspects of transportation.
  • Support the development and coordination of policies and programs related to climate policy within DOT and other federal agencies.
  • Review case studies and reports on climate policy and proposals to determine their impact on proposed policy recommendations.
  • Prepare briefings of policy recommendations for review, consideration, and approval by the Director and the Assistant Secretary for Transportation Policy.
  • Complete Project Readiness Reviews and Project Readiness Review QA/QC under the direction of OST-P30.
  • Analyze data related to the duration of NEPA compliance and its impacts on grant agreements and obligation of grant funds.
  • Research environmental issues in transportation, including greenhouse gas emissions, reduction strategies, and climate change impacts.
  • Ensure consistency with existing environmental laws and regulations while exploring innovative new strategies for transportation project development and delivery.
  • Evaluate program functions, policy initiatives, and studies related to climate policy.
  • Advise the Director and the Assistant Secretary for Transportation Policy on climate change and related policy issues affecting the transportation sector.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree
  • 5+ years of experience applying principles, concepts, and practices related to environmental impact on program activities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
