Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Officer III to join our team at the Texas Military Department. As a Security Officer III, you will be responsible for safeguarding priority resources, buildings, personnel, property, and equipment belonging to the Department of Defense, Texas Army National Guard, Texas Air National Guard, and the Texas Military Department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patrols and guards property against loss or damage from fire, theft, vandalism, accident, or trespass; maintaining order and protecting life.
  • Reports to the Base Operations Manager through the Shift Senior Security Officer, and works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
  • Works with the general public on a daily basis issuing visitor passes, giving directions, and receiving and/or reporting complaints.
  • Acts as Base Courtesy Ambassador for base populous and general public.
  • Evaluates and makes recommendations on matters of safety and security.
  • Performs duties as the Installation Entry Controller.
  • Directs traffic or performs crowd control.
  • Patrols base to protect against suspicious activity.
  • Reports all emergencies, accidents, and incidents to upper management.
  • Performs after-duty hour checks of buildings and alarmed facilities.
  • Apprehends suspects under supervision.
  • Assists military, federal, and local law enforcement agencies during VIP visits.
  • Prepares detailed incident/accident reports.
  • Obtains statements from witnesses and complainants.
  • Performs first aid.
  • Participates in all mandatory training on security and law enforcement duties and responsibilities.
  • Attends work regularly and observes approved work hours in accordance with agency state employee policies & procedures handbook.
  • May be required to perform duty in support of national emergencies, disasters, and other missions, to include holidays and weekends.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor and training personnel.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is required.
  • High school diploma and/or transcript from an institute of higher education must be furnished to HR upon employee orientation.
  • Two years of experience as a peace officer, security officer, or military law enforcement is required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office to include Word, Outlook, and Excel is required.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be flexible for shift work; weekdays and/or weekend shifts.
  • Must be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC).
  • Selected candidate must pass federal security background investigation in accordance with AR The process includes a National Agency Check with local records and credit check (NACLC/T3) and fingerprinting.
  • Selected candidates are required to sign a confidentiality agreement not to disclose For Official Use Only (FOUO) information to unauthorized persons.
  • Selected candidates may be required to perform work at different locations to meet business need.
  • Selected candidates may be required to perform other duties as assigned (by military or state personnel) including, but not limited to, required training and working alternative shifts as necessary.

Working Conditions:

  • Extended work hours may be required without notice.
  • Weekend and/or holiday work may be required.
