Job Title: Director, Healthcare Compliance Counsel

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Director, Healthcare Compliance Counsel to join our Corporate Legal and Audit Services Division. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading all aspects of the group healthcare compliance function and providing advice, mentorship, and contractual and regulatory interpretation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and expand the healthcare compliance program by minimizing risk through partnerships with relevant functional areas, crafting and embedding relevant controls, and providing leadership and guidance on corrective action plans.
  • Partner with finance, audit, and other functions to ensure periodic risk-based monitoring and auditing assessments of process controls, and provide insightful data-driven reports of assessment findings.
  • Build healthcare compliance educational programs to drive a deeper understanding of federal and state laws and regulations, as well as Thermo Fisher's Code of Business Ethics and Healthcare Code of Conduct.
  • Lead, oversee, and support the investigation of business ethics incidents and transactional monitoring into reported healthcare compliance concerns or allegations of healthcare compliance misconduct.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to drive efficient practices and consistency with internal policies and processes.
  • Mentor and empower business partners to become influencers and healthcare compliance advocates, and provide first-line healthcare compliance advice.
  • Oversee and lead Thermo Fisher's global Open Payments/Sunshine transparency reporting requirements.
Requirements:
  • Juris Doctorate required; member in good standing with State Bar.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of healthcare and legal compliance experience at a law firm or in-house supporting global organizations within healthcare-regulated industries.
  • Knowledge of anti-kickback and false claims laws, transactional and compliance reporting laws and regulations, Federal Food, Drug & Cosmetic Act promotional requirements, and global transparency laws.
  • Proven experience driving legal compliance solutions, strong project and process management capabilities, and ability to influence without formal authority.

  • Competitive salary range estimated for this position based in Massachusetts is $184,100.00–$276,125.00.
