Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Care Assistant to join our team at OLGMC 8S Med Surg. As a Patient Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in maintaining patient safety and delivering basic patient care under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse.

Responsibilities
  • Provide constant observation of patients and notify nursing personnel of changes in behavior or status
  • Intervene as needed to maintain patient safety
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers, patients, family, and visitors
  • Perform all functions delegated by the nurse staff and adhere to policies and procedures
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred - 3 months of personal care experience in a home or clinical setting
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 60 days of hire
  • Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification within 60 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications
  • Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule
Working Conditions

The incumbent works in a patient care area, is exposed to blood, body fluid, and tissue, and has an occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases.
