Core Objective

The Cybersecurity Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the Security Operations Center (SOC) at Sempra Services Corporation. This role entails leading the strategic implementation and enhancement of security operations to safeguard the organization’s assets and sensitive information against evolving cyber threats. The manager will supervise critical areas including incident management, forensic analysis, security surveillance, threat assessment, and vulnerability mitigation.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Planning
  • Operational Oversight: Directs daily functions of the security operations team, ensuring effective monitoring, detection, and incident response across various IT environments.
  • Proactive Threat Management: Conducts ongoing research on emerging cybersecurity threats and leads investigations into security incidents, preserving evidence for potential legal proceedings.
  • Team Development: Guides the security operations team in building a world-class SOC, proposing innovative solutions to enhance threat detection and prevention.
  • Standardization and Automation: Drives initiatives for standardizing processes and automating security operations to improve efficiency.

Project Management and Compliance
  • Project Leadership: Manages the planning and execution of complex projects related to cybersecurity operations, ensuring alignment with compliance and architectural standards.
  • Resource Allocation: Prioritizes tasks, assigns resources, and coordinates team efforts to achieve project objectives.
  • Compliance Assurance: Ensures that all activities within the functional area adhere to regulatory and compliance requirements.

Team Collaboration and Development
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Works collaboratively with various IT and enterprise teams to foster alignment and commitment to high performance.
  • Leadership and Mentorship: Provides direction and motivation to the security operations team, facilitating performance management and professional development.
  • Talent Management: Engages in people-care activities, including regular feedback sessions and career development discussions to support employee growth.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in Information Security or Cybersecurity roles.
  • 2+ years of experience managing cybersecurity functions in a complex IT environment.
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CISA).
  • In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity operations, including incident response and security monitoring.
  • Exceptional management and communication skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Technical certifications in cybersecurity operations (e.g., GCIA, GCIH, CEH).
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is advantageous.
