About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Configuration and Estimation Specialist to join our team at The Shyft Group. As a key member of our Utilimaster team, you will play a critical role in creating bill of materials for costing during the quote phase, supporting the rollout of engineering change notices, and maintaining production system integrity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize configurator data and specification information to create costed BOMs during the quote phase
  • Support information maintenance in configurator and ERP
  • Ensure that all necessary order information is centrally organized and accessible
  • Partner with vendors to obtain pricing estimates and delivery schedules
  • Process supply chain orders and engineering change orders
  • Create Item Masters and enter data for Bills of Materials into the system
  • Develop Bills of Materials based on Product Structure
  • Check all Sales Order Requests for changes before implementing them into the system
  • Review all engineering change notices for completeness and the impact on BOM
  • Develop features and options to support Bills of Materials
  • Assist Materials Management in classifying products as either buys, makes, or phantoms
  • Monitor product costs and report variances during new product development through estimated BOMs
  • Create and maintain VINs, federal tag information, GVWR, pre-delivery fees, and base weights
  • Create proposals for new product development design reviews by running cost analyses
  • Provide training to new and existing personnel
Requirements
  • High School or GED
  • Three or more (3+) years of relevant product configuration or estimation experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365, particularly Excel and Word
  • ERP expertise
  • Versed in configurator tools
  • A history of effective cross-functional communication
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate or Technical degree
  • Product configuration experience with Configure One
