Overview:

Fox Creek Animal Clinic is seeking a dedicated Full-Time Animal Care Specialist to enhance our team.

Compensation: $16-19/hr

Shift Details: Full-Time, 36-hour work week with rotating Saturdays.

Job Summary: This role involves providing leadership and training to the medical support team within a small animal facility, adhering to established hospital policies and procedures. The Animal Care Specialist will deliver medical care to patients as permitted by veterinary regulations. Strong communication skills with both staff and clients, along with meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills, are essential. Proficiency in venipuncture and comfort in educating clients on immunization protocols and preventive care are required.

Responsibilities:

  • Uphold the Core Values and Mission Statement of MVP.
  • Guide support staff to ensure smooth operations during shifts.
  • Provide feedback to the hospital manager for employee performance evaluations.
  • Administer patient care under the supervision of a veterinarian.
  • Maintain excellent communication with clients.
  • Accurately document all relevant medical, client, and case information in patient records.
  • Review medical records, estimates, or discharge instructions with clients.
  • Address client inquiries regarding basic animal care and routine procedures, escalating medical questions to veterinarians as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Some experience in the veterinary field is preferred.
  • Proficiency in various skills including laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental, and nursing.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations and manage a fast-paced environment.
  • Capability to stay efficient during medical emergencies.
  • Skill in administering SQ, IM, and IV injections.
  • Knowledge of prescription drug usage, dosages, and common side effects, with the ability to explain these to clients.
