Information Systems Strategist for Escambia County

Salary: $85,000 - $110,000 per year
We are seeking an experienced Information Systems Strategist to join our team at Escambia County. As a key member of our IT department, you will play a critical role in shaping the county's technology strategy and ensuring that all systems support our operations and objectives.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will have a strong background in IT management and a proven track record of leading teams and implementing successful technology initiatives. You will be responsible for setting the county's IT strategy, selecting and implementing suitable technology, designing and customizing technological systems, and overseeing the technological infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sets objectives and strategies for the IT department
- Selects and implements suitable technology to streamline internal operations and optimize strategic benefits
- Designs and customizes technological systems and platforms to improve customer experience
- Plans the implementation of new systems and provides guidance to IT professionals and other staff
- Approves purchases of technological equipment and software and establishes partnerships with IT providers
- Oversees the technological infrastructure (networks and computer systems) to ensure optimal performance
- Directs and organizes IT-related projects
- Monitors changes or advancements in technology to discover ways the county can gain a competitive advantage
- Analyzes the costs, value, and risks of information technology to advise management and suggest actions
- Supervises staff, including prioritizing and assigning work, conducting performance evaluations, and maintaining a healthy and safe working environment
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field
- Seven years of management experience in the area of specialty
- Certified Public Manager certification is preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, as well as excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Knowledge of IT systems and infrastructure, designing/developing IT systems, and planning IT implementation
- Solid understanding of data analysis, budgeting, and business operations
- Superior communication and interpersonal abilities
- Applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, regulations, codes, and/or statutes
- Public administration principles and advanced theories related to the area of assignment
