Job Summary:

Manage all resin materials on the molding floor to facilitate production processes.

This position operates on the 2nd Shift.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Verify setup documentation and production prints for appropriate materials and revisions at the beginning of each shift.
  • Inspect all hoppers for correct materials and lot numbers at the start of the shift.
  • Examine all material barrels for accuracy in material and lot numbers at the beginning of the shift.
  • Check material levels in barrels and hoppers to ensure they are adequately filled at the start of the shift.
  • Review the production schedule to confirm that necessary materials for the upcoming shift are drying in the pre-dryer.
  • Ensure materials are correctly labeled per part specifications using Plastic Identification Tags (Form #MO-122-X).
  • Conduct material changeovers promptly, prioritizing these tasks over others.
  • During material transitions, ensure hoppers are thoroughly cleaned and re-labeled for the next production run.
  • Confirm that all hopper temperatures are set correctly. Complete the material checklist (Form #MO-113) and submit it to the shift supervisor.
  • Clean presses after material changes and as required.
  • Prevent contamination of materials.
  • Remove previous job materials from hoppers/dryers and prepare new (properly labeled) materials.
  • Regularly check dryers for correct temperature settings and proper configurations.
  • Clearly identify all hoppers, sprue barrels, buckets, gaylords, pre-dryers, and material bins (including material #, lot #, etc.).
  • Provide breaks to machine operators as time and scheduling permit.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the molding department at all times.
  • Ensure the material storage area is tidy, with all materials properly identified and covered.
  • Keep color feeders adequately supplied with the correct colorant.
  • At the end of your shift, check and replenish all hopper barrels, dispose of all sprue barrels, and empty all trash containers.

Maintain an organized and neat material storage area.

  • Prepare materials for job changeovers and the next shift's production schedule, setting up pre-dryers as necessary.
  • Assist with additional duties as required.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Must possess a valid forklift license.

Education and Experience:

Prior experience as a molding operator or die setter is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Extended periods of sitting at a workstation and using a computer.

Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed.
