Job Summary

The Production Supervisor is a key member of the Romac Industries team, responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a production department. This role requires a strong background in manufacturing processes, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Leadership and Management
  • Lead a team of up to 20 direct reports, including hiring, performance management, development, and day-to-day management.
  • Maintain discipline, morale, and personnel relations, and address issues.
  • Recommend terminations, transfers, promotions, and wage adjustments.
Safety and Compliance
  • Maintain a safe work environment with the goal of having zero work-related injuries.
  • Ensure compliance of all safety procedures.
Production and Operations
  • Supervise activities involving manual work or use of fabrication/machining equipment.
  • Provide adequate training for employees.
  • Plan and layout work.
  • Assign, instruct, direct, and assist employees.
  • Inspect work progress, equipment, and tools to verify safety or to ensure that specifications are met.
  • Provide instruction to employees to prevent, detect and correct unsafe conditions or violations of procedure and/or safety rules.
Results and Performance
  • Be accountable for results in terms of costs, methods, quality and quantity of production, operations, and personnel.
  • Check material shortages, machine or equipment defects, and causes for delays.
Continuous Improvement
  • Lead continuous improvement teams.
  • Maintain department schedules to ensure meeting customer expectations.
Development and Training
  • Coach, develop, and train personnel.
Additional Responsibilities
  • A continuous improvement mindset.
  • Process improvement specifically to reduce setup times and machining/fabrication times.
  • Ability to develop and implement systems and procedures as they relate to process development, process flow, quality assurance and work order documentation.
  • Ability to institute process and procedural improvements in a machine shop/fabrication environment is critical.
  • Expected to function as a working leader and ability to help in production/machining/fabrication when needed.

Requirements

  1. Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 5+ years of experience as a lead, supervisor, and/or manager.
  • Experience with setup and operation of conventional and automated machine shop and fabrication equipment.
Skills and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work effectively with both employees and managers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Strong problem solving and process improvement skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing.
  • Ability to lead employees to motivate; foster open, honest and candid communication; and determine strengths and weaknesses.
