UNC Health is seeking a skilled CT Technologist to join our team in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. As a CT Technologist II, you will play a critical role in conducting complex procedures and tests using Computed Tomography (CT) equipment to acquire and analyze patient diagnostic data.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct complex procedures and tests using CT equipment to acquire and analyze patient diagnostic data.
- Work in collaboration with various teams (Trauma, Stroke, Cardiology) to obtain necessary imaging for advanced diagnoses to aid in treatment options.
- Assist the radiologist in performing high-risk invasive diagnostic techniques such as needle biopsies, aspirations, CT-guided joint injections, and CT-guided needle-wire placement exams for surgery.
- Evaluate any contra-indications, such as medications, insufficient patient preparation or the patient's inability, or unwillingness to tolerate the procedure, notifying care teams and coordinating appropriate care.
- Perform CTA perfusion, Code IA/Stroke/Bat, Red Trauma Series, Yellow Trauma Series, ROSC, and Portable CT procedures, as defined by the procedure and/or physician.
- Recognize diagnostic characteristics of normal and abnormal scans, anatomy, and questionable findings, alerting Radiologist for escalation of and/or additional care.
- Analyze scan data throughout the course of the examination so that a comprehensive exam is completed and sufficient data is provided to the physician.
- Triages care for general anesthesia (adult/pediatric) exams and provides education for care teams, ensures optimal parameters, equipment settings, contrast administration and post-processing of images.
- Administers oral and rectal contrast to adult and pediatric patients according to protocols, establishes intravenous lines, administers IV contrast following safe and proper injection procedures.
- Completion of an accredited educational program in Radiological Science with an advanced registry in Computed Tomography.
- Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiological Sciences or registry eligible.
- Requires advanced certification in CT.
- Successful candidates must maintain their registry status and continuing education requirements annually.
- All imaging specialists are required to maintain current competency in HCP BLS.
- Three (3) years of experience as a CT Technologist.
