Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct complex procedures and tests using Computed Tomography (CT) equipment to acquire and analyze patient diagnostic data.
  • Work in collaboration with various teams, including Trauma, Stroke, and Cardiology, to obtain necessary imaging for advanced diagnoses and treatment options.
  • Assist radiologists in performing high-risk invasive diagnostic techniques, such as needle biopsies and CT-guided joint injections.
  • Evaluate contra-indications and notify care teams and coordinate appropriate care prior to patient arrival.
  • Perform CTA perfusion, Code IA/Stroke/Bat, Red Trauma Series, Yellow Trauma Series, ROSC, and Portable CT procedures.
  • Recognize diagnostic characteristics of normal and abnormal scans, anatomy, and questionable findings, and alert radiologists for escalation of care.
  • Analyze scan data throughout the examination to ensure a comprehensive exam is completed and sufficient data is provided to the physician.
  • Triages care for general anesthesia exams and provides education for care teams, ensures optimal parameters, equipment settings, contrast administration, and post-processing of images.
  • Administers oral and rectal contrast to adult and pediatric patients according to protocols, establishes intravenous lines, administers IV contrast following safe and proper injection procedures, and checks appropriate lab values before contrast injection per protocol.
Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited educational program in Radiological Science with an advanced registry in Computed Tomography.
  • Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiological Sciences or registry eligible.
  • Requires advanced certification in CT.
  • Successful candidates must maintain their registry status and continuing education requirements annually.
  • All imaging specialists are required to maintain current competency in HCP BLS.
  • Three (3) years of experience as a CT Technologist.
Work Environment

This is a full-time position with a standard work schedule of 40 hours per week. The salary range is $29.98 - $43.10 per hour (Hiring Range). Pay offers are determined by experience and internal equity. This is a State position employed by UNC Health Care System with UNC Health benefits.
