Job Summary:
As a CT Technologist at UNC Health Care, you will play a vital role in conducting procedures and tests using Computerized Tomography (CT) equipment to acquire and analyze patient diagnostic data. Your expertise will be essential in providing high-quality imaging services to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Identification- Verify patient identification, obtain patient history, and ensure patient safety. This includes verifying patient identification, asking and documenting pregnancy status on patients of childbearing age.
  • CT Scans- Obtain images per protocols, manipulate images according to protocols, and perform multi-planar and 3D reconstruction of image data. You will also demonstrate a thorough knowledge of CT algorithms and select appropriate window and level settings according to anatomy.
  • Contrast- Administer oral contrast to adult and pediatric patients according to protocols, establish intravenous lines, and administer IV contrast following safe and proper injection procedures. You will also follow correct procedures to determine contrast eligibility and check appropriate lab values before contrast injection per protocol.
  • Image Transfer- Maintain a thorough understanding of PACS and transmit images to QC, UNCH's EMR, EPIC, and PACS. Verify and segment images at the QC station, access IMPAX service tools to verify image transmission, and complete, modify, or cancel orders in a timely manner. Ensure that all charge information is accurate and verify patient identification in accordance with UNC policy.
  • Other Duties- Perform tasks in a timely manner, run the schedule to create a consistent workflow, volunteer to work on challenging tasks, difficult procedures, and new research. Produce quality diagnostic images, review patient charts and reports for correlation, maintain a clean and orderly work environment, and create documentation of incidents as improvement opportunities for employees and the department. Precept new employees and students.

Requirements:

  • Completion of an accredited educational program in Radiological Science or completion within 3 months at time of application.
  • Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiological Sciences or registry eligible.
  • Requires advanced certification in CT within one year of employment.
  • Successful candidates must become registered within one year of employment and maintain their registry status and continuing education requirements annually.
  • All imaging specialists are required to maintain current competency in HCP BLS.
