Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Operations Coordinator to join our team at Northwestern Memorial Healthcare. As a key member of our laboratory operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our specimen receiving and processing functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and monitor the receipt and processing of specimens, ensuring accurate and timely results.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and document control systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as hospital policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the planning and maintenance of the laboratory information system (LIS).
  • Investigate and resolve patient, technical, and workflow problems related to specimen receiving and processing.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers and suppliers.
  • Assure that service standards are implemented and evaluated.
  • Facilitate a multi-disciplinary and collaborative approach to patient care and interdepartmental problem solving/service delivery.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as laboratory science or healthcare administration.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in laboratory operations or a related field.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Knowledge of laboratory information systems and standard operating procedures.
