Event Planning Manager

This position is responsible for planning and executing meetings, special events, or functions for a College, School, or Program within the University. The incumbent will manage the execution and implementation of assigned events and planning timelines, develop and implement policies and procedures related to event planning, manage and oversee departmental budget, and provide supervision, guidance, and direction for support staff.
Key Responsibilities- Direct day-to-day operational functions of event planning.
- Establish and manage event timelines.
- Develop and recommend event operating procedures.
- Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, and clients.
- Negotiate prices, menus, space, etc. with suppliers, vendors, and clients.
- Develop, manage, and oversee assigned event budget.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures related to event planning.
- Train, develop, and manage the performance of staff.
- Establish and implement event goals and objectives.
- Manage event logistics and determine strategies to accomplish event success.
- Ensure best practices are maintained for event planning.
- Prepare event analysis to assess opportunities and make recommendations for improvement.
- Manage billing and arrange prompt payment for events once complete.
- Ensure staff are compliant with policies and procedures and guidelines are met.
- Perform similar or related duties as assigned or required.
- Manage the execution and implementation of assigned events.
- Oversee assigned departmental budget.
- Develop policies and procedures related to event planning.
- Provide supervision and guidance for support staff.
Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
Experience: Three (3) years of experience related to the above described duties.
Substitution Statement: Related experience may be substituted for education, on a basis set forth and approved by the Department of Human Resources.
