Assistant Professor of International Security

We are seeking a highly qualified Assistant Professor of International Security to join our faculty at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. This is a tenure-track position that will contribute to our department's research and teaching excellence in international relations and security.
Key Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in international relations and security, including Introduction to International Relations, International Conflict and National Security Policy, and Theories of International Relations.
- Conduct research and publish in top-tier outlets on international security topics, such as strategic studies, cybersecurity, terrorism and counterterrorism, critical security studies, human security, and environmental security.
- Develop and implement new methods of teaching to reflect changes in the field and contribute to our department's existing teaching strengths.
- Provide service on campus and in related professional organizations, including participating in faculty governance and mentoring students.
- Ph.D. degree in Political Science or International Relations with a specialization in international security or a related field from an accredited institution of higher education.
- Demonstrated ability to teach an undergraduate Introduction to International Relations course.
- Ability to teach some combination of the following courses at the undergraduate or graduate level: International Conflict and National Security Policy, Theories of International Relations, and American Foreign Policy.
- Record of successful research and publication (e.g., journal articles published in reputable outlets).
- Well-defined research agenda that focuses on international security.
- Evidence of effective teaching (e.g., teaching evaluations, sample syllabus, teaching portfolio).
- Strong and active research agenda that is well-grounded in theory and backed by advanced analytical, methodological, and empirical skills.
- Demonstrated potential for publishing in top-tier outlets.
- Demonstrated commitment to graduate and undergraduate education and a willingness to contribute to our department's existing teaching strengths.
- Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a student population from different backgrounds.
- Potential to secure external grant funding.
- Demonstrated commitment to active scholarly service.
