Position Overview:
The Laboratory Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all technical functions and duties as outlined in the Medical Technologist/Histology Technician roles. This position serves as the technical authority for their respective section/shift and plays a key role in the overall management of the laboratory.

The Supervisor will engage with a diverse patient population, ranging from neonates to the elderly, addressing various health conditions.

Qualifications:

Education & Training:
Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline and an accredited Medical Technology program, or a combination of education and experience with nationally recognized certification at the technologist level. ASCP certification or a Master’s degree is preferred. SBB certification is preferred for Blood Bank Supervisors. HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) certification is preferred for Histology.

Experience:
Demonstrated supervisory experience is essential. A minimum of three years of relevant full-time laboratory experience is required, with at least two years in the designated specialty for Section Heads/Shift Supervisors.

Skills & Abilities:
Visual acuity and color perception are necessary. In addition to the skills outlined for Medical Technologists or Histology Technicians, the Laboratory Operations Supervisor must possess the ability to:
a) Effectively resolve issues;
b) Develop and implement section policies and procedures;
c) Achieve desired productivity levels;
d) Maintain a harmonious work environment within the section and across the department;
e) Lead by example;
f) Foster a culture of service excellence that contributes to a healing and compassionate atmosphere.
