Security Production Engineering (SPE) is a pivotal component of our Schwab Cybersecurity Services (SCS) organization, a centralized 1st Line of Defense Center of Excellence (COE) that provides security services to advance Schwab’s security posture and enhance the protection of Schwab’s critical assets.

 

SPE provides cyber security resilience, acting as a core contributor in enhancing the efficiency, effectiveness, scalability, and resilience of our cyber security infrastructure. We delve into the heart of security platforms, employing our superior cyber expertise to provide unique business value and ensure the firm’s robust digital defenses. This position will take immediate responsibility of the threat detection application infrastructure.

 

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage cybersecurity risk and enable the business by implementing, maintaining, and optimizing security infrastructure tools with a customer focus.
  • Deliver security value by proactively identifying and executing on opportunities for improving tool effectiveness, efficiency, scalability, maturity, and resiliency.
  • Urgently detect and respond to issues. Follow up with a root cause analysis (RCA) and implement improvements to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Monitor and react to security infrastructure alerts and incidents.

Knowledge Management, Cross-Training, and Individual Development

  • Develop and maintain high-quality, complete, and current documentation.
  • Identify and address opportunities for improvement across documentation and training processes.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all assigned products, as a subject matter expert (SME)
  • Develop and maintain training guides for products you own/administer to support thorough and effective cross-training.
  • Seek out opportunities to train and be trained to ensure excellent knowledge, skills, and abilities coverage across all assigned products.

Integration, Projects, and Initiatives

  • Deliver assigned Projects & Resiliency Initiatives.
  • Actively collaborate with peers in an effective, efficient, respectful, and timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain artifacts such as timelines, diagrams, guides, procedures, inventories, recommendations, and decisions.
  • Strive to exceed time, budget, scope, and quality requirements. Proactively identify and escalate issues that may negatively impact delivery.
  • Deploys POCs and Pilots as needed, works with multiple enterprise teams to obtain testers to validate assumptions and operation of the control prior to wide scale deployment.
What you have

Required:

  • 5+ of experience in cybersecurity
  • 3+ years of direct experience with cybersecurity tools selection, design, deployment, maintenance, and operations
  • 3+ years of proven engineering experience with various infrastructure technologies (server and desktop endpoints, firewalls, agent-based technologies, monitoring of system health, SIEM, etc.)
  • Win/ Linux/ Unix
  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity (or equivalent)

Preferred:

  • Tripwire experience
  • Trellix/ePO experience Applied knowledge of security protocols and principles.
  • Applied knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks (e.g. NIST CSF, CIS Critical Security Controls, NIST 800-53)
  • Applied knowledge of compliance and legal requirements (State and Federal) including SOX, GLBA, GDPR
  • Automation experience (Python, scripts, Ansible, Salt, etc.)
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to solve complex problems.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for interactions at all levels across the organization
  • Security Management certifications (CISSP or equivalent)
  • Security certifications (GSEC, GMON, GPEN, GCIH, GCIA, or equivalent)
  • Operating System certifications (MCSE or equivalent Linux certification)
  • Network certifications (CCNA, CCDP or equivalent)
