About the Role: The Project Engineer I is responsible for the support of functions related to construction management in the electrical construction industry. Projects may include performance of work for federal, state, and municipal clients throughout the United States. The Project Engineer assists with the preparation of plans, and applicable specifications, and interfaces with and provides general project support to senior project management professionals. Company Overview Since 1912, Sturgeon Electric Company, Inc., a subsidiary of MYR Group, Inc., has provided comprehensive electrical construction services to clients throughout the western U.S. Sturgeon Electric has two divisions, offering both power line construction and commercial/industrial electrical construction, making it a full-service electrical provider. Sturgeon Electric’s powerline, or Transmission and Distribution (T&D) construction division provides a full range of capabilities related to transmission, distribution, and substation construction. Essential FunctionsInterpret applicable construction drawingsAssist with the review of plans and specifications and prepare a checklist of contract features that require periodic attentionList items the sub-contractor must submit for approval prior to the start of the workAssist with cost estimates and project scheduling as neededEnsure maintenance of accurate recordsAssist with preparing statements of work, submittals, change management and necessary daily and weekly reportingPromote safety in construction operations and ensure compliance with safety requirementsInspect equipment, material, workmanship and finished constructionCheck progress of work in the fieldObserve work in progress to ensure that procedures are followed, and materials used conform to required specificationsRegular and predictable attendanceOther duties as assignedEssential functions of this position are to be performed in a Company-designated office or field locationUnderstand and comply with the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy and other industry-specific professional and ethical standards, if applicable About You: QualificationsMinimum 1 - 3 years of experience in the construction process of commercial electrical operations or general construction experienceBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field; a combination of education and experience considered in lieu of degree.  Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesAbility to read blueprints and drawingsProficient with Microsoft Office applicationsPossess strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skillsWorking knowledge of Microsoft Project and/or Primavera at an intermediate or higher levelStrong problem-solving skills with the ability to think practically while remaining detail-oriented What We Offer: Compensation & BenefitsSalary $60,000-$75,000 / yearCommensurate with experience, paid weekly. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith.
