Windows Firmware and Windows Operating System SME (Subject Matter Expert) Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Windows Firmware and Windows Operating System SME to join our team. As a Windows Firmware and Windows Operating System SME, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and expertise in the development, implementation, and maintenance of Windows firmware and operating system solutions. You will serve as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and oversight to ensure the successful delivery of projects related to Windows firmware and operating systems. Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and oversight to teams working on Windows firmware and operating system projects. Firmware Development: Design, develop, test, and deploy Windows firmware solutions for various hardware platforms. Operating System Development: Collaborate with teams to develop, test, and deploy Windows operating system images, ensuring compliance with company standards and industry regulations. Requirements Analysis: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze requirements, defining firmware and operating system specifications and ensuring seamless integration with hardware and software components. Testing and Validation: Develop and execute comprehensive testing plans to ensure firmware and operating systems meet quality, security, and performance standards. Debugging and Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve complex firmware and operating system issues, collaborating with internal teams and external partners as needed. Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Maintain accurate technical documentation and share knowledge with team members to promote continuous learning and improvement. Staying Up-to-Date: Remain current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and evolving firmware and operating system development methodologies, applying this knowledge to improve our solutions. Requirements Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Experience: Minimum 12+ years of experience in Windows firmware and operating system development, with a focus on Windows firmware and operating systems. Technical Skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, and Python. Experience with Windows firmware development tools and frameworks (e.g., UEFI, WDK, and Windows 10 IoT Enterprise). Familiarity with Windows operating system development and deployment tools (e.g., Windows ADK, MDT, and SCCM). Strong understanding of computer architecture, operating systems, and firmware development methodologies. Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Effective communication and collaboration skills. Strong leadership and mentoring abilities. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing multiple projects and deadlines. Nice to Have Certifications: Relevant certifications, such as CompTIA A+ or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE). Experience with Agile Methodologies: Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and version control systems like JIRA and Git. Scripting Skills: Knowledge of scripting languages like PowerShell or batch scripting. Cloud Experience: Familiarity with cloud-based services like Azure or AWS. Salary and Other Compensation: The annual salary for this position is between $140K to $148K depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
