The Systems Engineer Level II plays a crucial role in ensuring that ICW Group's computing environment and infrastructure technologies are effectively designed and implemented to support business objectives. This position is essential for managing complex systems and optimizing organizational workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive lifecycle support for all infrastructure and computing systems, from design through troubleshooting and maintenance.

  • Design, implement, and manage components of the VMware virtualization environment (vSphere, vRA, vROPS, ESX, NSX).
  • Develop and manage Ansible automation controllers and create relevant playbooks.
  • Oversee AWS automation, troubleshooting, and deployment processes.
  • Manage Microsoft 365 & Azure automation, troubleshooting, and deployments.
  • Create tools for automating the deployment and installation of new software releases and system upgrades (Ansible, Jenkins).
  • Evaluate and install patches while resolving software-related issues.
  • Engineer Windows, RedHat, CentOS Linux, VMware hosts, and storage infrastructure.
  • Implement account management processes utilizing Active Directory, user identity management, and enterprise messaging technologies.
  • Apply updates to host system firmware and software.
  • Design systems with a focus on scalability, security, and availability, while ensuring capacity management targets are met.

Establish procedures for monitoring, evaluating, diagnosing, and resolving system issues.

  • Specify, design, and implement system health and performance monitoring tools for 24x7 environments (Splunk, LogicMonitor, OpsGenie, Rapid 7).
  • Research, develop, and test new computing technologies (Containers, Cloud, Automation).
  • Facilitate the transition of systems into production through change management, including non-functional requirements and documentation.
  • Develop solutions and automate repetitive tasks using scripting or programming languages such as Python, PowerShell, CloudFormation, and Bicep.
  • Create and enforce policies for VMware and Linux storage environments.

Provide daily technical support to the organization.

  • Prioritize daily technical tasks for assigned systems.
  • Deliver escalated support for a large enterprise network, including Windows servers, ESX hosts, and various applications.
  • Manage the integration of cloud applications and infrastructure services into existing IT systems.
  • Align virtualization strategies with business requirements.
  • Conduct technical research and development to foster ongoing innovation within the infrastructure team.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience.
Certifications
  • Current Microsoft certification is highly preferred.
  • Preferred certifications include VMware Certified Professional, Red Hat Linux, CCNA, and JNCIA.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Strong logical and analytical thinking with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Able to identify root causes of issues and determine efficient solutions.
  • Proficient in anticipating and mitigating risks.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure while maintaining focus.
  • Solid understanding of relevant business systems, operating systems, and servers.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts (e.g., Systems, Protocols, and Directory Services).
  • Experience with light scripting and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of software behavior for effective deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience as a Systems Admin in designing, implementing, and maintaining Microsoft-based enterprise applications.
  • Familiarity with supporting applications in VMware ESX environments and experience with automation and orchestration tools.
